I've read some posts sisters from different countries about the bad image of the island of Bali, and tragedies that befall our brother (Japanese women), this is certainly sad ..
as people born in Bali and as the host I'm sorry ..
we certainly less wise judge it from the point of distinction of race, nation, skin color and culture ..
I rate this a bad thing as government security measures that are less good.
Bali such as flowers begin to bloom .. grow, many activities and visits by tourists from various countries .. but not getting good treatment from the government and society bali.tidak only in the security sector, transportation and other hygiene and of course .. this because lack of public knowledge such as Bali.dan sometimes forget myself ..
Bali has to learn a lot how to behave and respect the guests, must learn lgi about a genuine service attitude and iklas the guests (as shoppers) .. because the guest / customer is king ... which in turn will provide a genuine benefit as well ..
I hope the relatives and friends in all parts of the world ..
Bali came to visit us ... .. but still be careful ...
do not be careless .. so as not to invite bad intentions of the ignorant ..
visit bali .. and make this island so beautiful ..

Mii,
your post is the best out of the lot by far. Such a sensible comment. It is a tragedy no doubt, but this women should have had her wits about her and should have not trusted these men. Also a woman has to be clear about what her intentions are if she invites a man, or men back to her hotel. She has to know what the guy's/guys' intentions are also. If common sense and intelligence had prevailed, then this victim would still be alive today. Women need to stop giving mixed/unclear signals otherwise they invite crocodiles to do evil things to them.

I have lived in Indo before and like the country. My favourite place is Bali, although Java is nice too. I think Indo people are very friendly.
However I will say this:
I am angry at how the Javanese and other Indonesians are wrecking the island of Bali and a lot of them are leeches and opportunists coming to the island to exploit it as it is obviously a tourist mecca and a goldmine for them. If they had preserved their own cultures like the Balinese rather than turning to and following a puritan, strict, hardcore and joyless religion like Islam, then they could have had their own tourist meccas too. They want to have their cake and eat it too. They should leave the Balinese alone and respect the island's culture and not use it as one uses a whore. Make your own paradise and stop exploiting the fruits of a paradise you did nothing to cultivate and develop.

Oh some of you, stop talking nonsense, please! I have lived in Japan and I have seen how Japanese tourists behave when I am abroad.

Any Japanese woman who loves to go traveling overseas alone or with "female" friends, can NOT be that naive, pure, polite, or "only giggles when a man touches her body!"

The reason why Japanese women often got raped, robbed, or both, or even got killed, was simply because they did NOT say "YES" to the man, because she is not interested in this guy sexually or emotionally. So when this man with a purpose or intention was turned down by this Japanese woman, got really angry yet already turned on by her already. He thought she hurt his pride, then he lost his mind and did something terrible like a monster.

Being a Asian female, one just must be wise and cautious especially during a vacation visiting an exotic island. But Japanese women are actually too open in their attitude and too much exposure on their clothing, and they like to drink bear and other alcohol, so that was how it had misled a lot of nasty men out there.

Om Swastiastu…

Hello everyone, I’m Balinese live in Bali (of course :>) 1st of all I want to send my sympathy to all Japanese girls/women, especially in Bali. And my comment here is not a generalization. Let’s put Japanese women as the victim in this context not the cause. They’re the victim of the Japanese culture itself. Japan actually a traditional country with modern technology. In the conservative world, women/girls must “act like women/girls” and it’s more “extreme” in Japanese context. Girls must act as childlike as they can even though they’re over 25 or 30 years old! Cuteness, politeness, obedient, submissive, girlie, and childlike or something like that is a must for Japanese women/girls. These characteristics become “boomerang” –in this case- whilst they’re in Bali especially in Kuta -the most favorite place for Japanese women tourist- Unfortunately, Kuta filled with predators! (I borrow this “Predator” term from other forumers in this forum and actually I agree with this term) Japanese are cute, childlike, almost always giggles, girlie and little bit naïve in some points, they’re shy, lonely and don’t have much friends. This typical shows “weakness” and if women/girls show their “weakness” in Kuta, no doubt, you’ll be the victim! The predators know it and exploit those girls sexually and financially.

About the Javanese Issue in this forum, I must say that there is a worry in Balinese society about the ”invasion” of outsiders especially from Java and Sumatra which has different tradition and religious background to Balinese . That’s why Balinese refuse the idea to make a bridge from Java Island to Bali. I think this refusal is a soft message about survival not blaming or “chauvinism”. By the way, I don’t want to talk about this issue any longer. The most important thing for us as Bali lover is to make this unique island still exist. Let’s make this island as the last paradise not lost paradise.

Matur suksma, om shanti shanti shanti om.

Thx everyone and forgive my “messy” English:)

i was from jakarta and i have been living in singapore for almost 10 years now. and tell you what, each time i am on my vacation in any places (bali included) in indonesia, my mind is always alert to any possibilities of crime.
when you live in a city like jakarta too long, your mind is well trained. you realize you can be victims of crime any time any where.

Just another stupid Yellow Cab with no clue what's going on in the world nor Japan. You have no idea the number of Japanese women that get rapped in Japan when at school/university/company by so called "friends" from the "group". Of course this case won't be investigated because they want to hire how sick Japanese are. No way to get justice

I'm a Chinese Indonesian and I've heard a lot about how Indonesian guys love Eastern girls look alike, especially Japanese. The absolute differences between us, the Chinese Indonesians and the Japanese, are that most of us never feel interested in local guys at all, especially those dark skinned ones looking like pure crooks, whom Japanese girls are crazy about!! The other difference is that Japanese girls are just too naive! And they won't get mad when those beach boys touch them. It's a total opposite with the Chinese who will absolutely ignore them even when they're just saying "good morning, girl."

I also agree with Juan Pablo. It is TRUE that most crimes in Bali done by Javanese. Therefore I strongly urge the Balinese police to strictly 'filter' those new comers from Java or the already settled Javanese with no clear jobs in Bali!

Yup! I agree with you Vitha! It has nothing to do with religion, and I understand your position but pls don't get me wrong, according to police official data about crime in Bali, most serious crime case in Bali did it by Javanese! We can't deny that.
And i just read the news that -AGAIN- japanese woman found killed!!

"A Japanese woman found dead on Indonesia's resort island of Bali had multiple stab wounds and her legs had been tied together, police said Sunday.
The naked body of Hiromi Shimada, 41, was found late Saturday in the house she rented near the popular tourist coastal town of Kuta, Bali provincial police spokesman Col. Gede Sugianyar said.
"We found her body in bad condition with several stab wounds in her stomach," Sugianyar said.
He said police continue to investigate the scene and question residents in the area.
Shimada's body was taken to Sanglah Hospital for an autopsy and the Japanese Consulate on Bali has been notified, he said.
In a separate slaying case of a Japanese tourist, police have arrested a man for the death of Rika Sano, 33, who was killed in September near Bali's Kuta beach. They arrested David Goltar Wicaksono, 26,from West JAVA, in early October and he is being held on suspicion of murder." (Jakarta Post)

Over and over again!!! I'm crying now.. I love Bali soooo much! But sad to say...Bali is in serious trouble now!
