Survivors and relatives of the people killed in the 2002 Bali bombings laid flowers at the memorial monument in Kuta this past Monday.

Plans for a peace park on the bombing site are yet to be finalized and land still lies vacant.

CNN and local news is reporting a bomb has exploded at the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott in Jakarta. Presumably it has been done by terrorist groups protesting the re-election of the president.

Nine people have reportedly died in the explosions. Anderson Cooper had a phone interview with a CNN producer in Jakarta. They had some footage from the local news stations. Since CNN didn’t have any footage themselves they showed images from the 2005 Bali bombings.

Just as tourism has been increasing to Bali the 2002 and 2005 bombings, the attack on western hotels in Jakarta is certainly going to have an affect on tourism in Indonesia.

Many people have criticized the Australian government for warning against travel to Indonesia, but it seems like there are still terrorist groups operating in Indonesia.
